Sharon - General
During her childminding years, Sharon gained many certificates such as behaviour management, makaton, first aid, equality and diversity and child protection which have proven to be helpful in her teaching of dances.
She has a fun and bubbly personality and is very passionate about dance and likes to pass this energy onto her students in class.
Sharon - Dance Background
Sharon has been dancing since the age of 5, trained as a ballet dancer and appeared in many shows with her ballet school. She went on to dance contemporary modern and freestyle.
Sharon found her real passion when she started street dance. After street dancing for many years she took her teacher training exams to gain a certificate in street dance. This enabled her to start her own dance company with the help and support of her husband Paul.
An enthusiastic choreographer, dancer and teacher who trained in many styles of dance, including street dance, with the IDTA. Juliet recently graduated from Bath Spa University with a BA (hons) dance degree.
She is a lively and passionate dancer with a lot of experience in teaching and working with children.
Bekki joined Simply Street Dance School 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. She thinks the team are like a family and all work so well together. Bekki has had the pleasure of working with Sharon, her family, Juliet and Abbie in 2 very successful shows and a competition.
She has been working as a dance teacher/choreographer since 2009 after graduating from Northumbria University. Since then has taught Street Dance, Drama, Contemporary, Cheer Dance, Break Dance and Musical Theatre.
Bekki started dancing when she joined the local Ballet School and continued training in different styles until graduating with an upper class BA (HONS) in Dance:Choreography. She has danced with Nemesis Dance Crew (Britains Got Talent), choreographed for the Cicrus of Horrors and Wookey Hole Circus School and through Knowle West Media Centre has created her own dance film and choreographed a fashion show.
Recent acheivements include 1st place in 3 different categories at the Sway Dance National Competition.
From a young age Hannah always had a passion for dance and over the past 10 years she has diversified and built upon her knowledge, training in the various disciplines and styles.
This has included disco, rock & roll, Latin American, ballroom and street, the latter being her main area of focus for the majority of this time.
Since 2009 she has been privileged enough to teach and promote street dance classes across the Southwest, this included undertaking classes in Schools, Dance Academies and fitness groups.
Hannah's performance credits include the London Palladium, The Palace theatre Manchester, S-Club TV for ITV Granada, Rythmn City Dance Studios, UDO Street Dance Championships, TED Talent - Illusion show Dancer and Bourne Leisure Resorts nationwide.
Penny has danced since the age of 3 - beginning in early music and movement classes. She trained classically in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern before progressing onto Disco, Freestyle and Rock and Roll at competition level.
She then transitioned into Latin and Balloon styles; cha cha, samba, rhumba and jive and took up teaching. Penny had a break from teaching whilst she underwent her BTEC National Diploma training in Musical Theatre (Dance Performance) and transitioned into Cheer Dance where her team achieved a Champion title at the 2009 International Cheer Coalition Competition and progressed to Coach both the Cheerleading and Cheer Dance teams at University.
Penny is now a Registered Dance Movement Psychotherapist as well as being a qualified Dance Instructor for Street Dance and Contemporary Dance.
Maria has been dancing since the age of 4 and has been involved in dance competitions and shows over the years.
She trained in Jazz, Disco and Tap growing up and at the age of 12 she ventured into Contemporary and Street Dance.
Maria has been a backing dancer and a choreographer for 8 years for schools, shows and private classes.
She loves dance with a passion feels teaching dance is an amazing and rewarding job. Maria is extremely excited to be a part of Simply Street!
